If You Need Me

I arrived in Portland with the daunting task of organizing necessary surgical and medical oncology for myself when the COVID pandemic was at full tilt.  Chemo side-effects devastated my body.  

 

I am so grateful that a friend found Lisa to help me!  Not being a tech-savvy individual, I would have been lost without Lisa stepping in to make it possible for me to use my computer (and my phone!) as valuable tools.  Lisa also became a trusted advisor and friend, helping me move into a different apartment, complete with all of the technological challenges inherent in establishing a new home in today's world.  

 

I admire her depth of knowledge and persistence in both her organizational skills and technological resourcefulness.  Her compassion and kindness shine through so that I feel more relaxed and confident  that difficult tasks can actually be accomplished.  

 

I am looking forward to continuing to work with Lisa in my quest to navigate the technological aspects of living a 21st Century life with joy.

One of my best decisions was to hire Lisa. Her business name, "If You Need Me," I knew was going to be a perfect fit. I definitely NEEDED her! In fact, after working together, my new name for her is, "I'll ALWAYS Need You." I signed up for organizing help with three, full storage units and papers all over my bed and ended up with structure, new business and no storage units to manage. I couldn't be happier with my choice of bringing Lisa into my life and look forward to many years continued work together!

When I  came up to Portland for an unexpected and extended medical stay, I was physically drained and had no real time to find access to basic necessities or food. Lisa stepped in and served as a helpful concierge and personal assistant. She provided my mother and me useful resources that made our stay more comfortable, including some great dining establishments that accommodated my new dietary restrictions. Over the course of about four months, she gave my mom much-needed breaks and took me out on little adventures as my own, personal tour guide of the city. She even did our laundry. Lisa has worked with me for over 15 years in various capacities. She is as frugal with my funds as if they were her own, using her time professionally and competently. When I was a small business owner, she assisted me with interviewing and hiring employees because I found she had excellent intuition about people and tactfully picked up then drilled down on their responses to frequently reveal traits that were extremely helpful for us to know about. She uses a common sense approach with everything she does. Her communication skills, event coordination, and property management skills are excellent. When my sister suddenly went into hospice back East, I knew there was no way at 80 years old I'd be able to figure out the airport,  lodging and getting around the city by myself. I called Lisa earlier in the day and by that evening she had us both on a plane en route - she even somehow got us into the bulkhead area to accommodate my bad hip, making the long ride bearable. Because of her, I was able to say,"goodbye" one last time, in-person before my sister passed. She even helped me organize funeral arrangements, assisted with various other executor tasks related to the estate and drove me all over town. The trip simply would not have been possible without her help. 

 

Lisa has also twice now been a medical advocate and friendly, caring face during a couple of longer-term hospital stays. Her visits always lifted my spirits, helped to pass the time and kept me entertained while I healed.

I've used Lisa to assist me with various travel arrangements. She get's me very comfortable (and sometimes unexpectedly upgraded) accommodations and always good rates.

 

She also oversaw the coordination of a great birthday party for my brother, everything from planning to overseeing that the event went off without a hitch. With her technological skills she created a lovely slideshow for the party. She really made the event memorable and event I could enjoy myself, knowing our group was in great hands.

Lisa is like a "Jackie of all Trades." I have used a variety of her services, about 8-15 hours a week, ongoing over the years with great results - these have included organizing my desk, paying bills, proofing various documents and running errands. She's saved many of my family members hundreds of dollars annually renegotiating our internet/cable bills and helping us coordinate repairs at our commercial properties. She helps navigate the cumbersome process of finding the best, annual medical insurance plan and makes sure we are paying the right amount in claims. She's coordinated many activities and events for me and even stood in line for high demand tickets to events. She has assisted me adjusting to a new dietary regimen which I am sure I would never have stuck to without her help. She even made delicious meals for me...the list goes on and on. She is incredibly organized, articulate and professional and find her an invaluable part of the team.

When my brother passed away, I asked Lisa to help with the executor duties in another state on my behalf - she oversaw literally everything, including funeral arrangements, the sale of two cars (which somehow managed to do in a couple of weeks), the closing of accounts, legal matters, as well as getting ready the house to put on the market including the removal of furniture and clutter from a five-story home in minus six-degree weather. She kept me apprised of everything along the way in a timely and orderly fashion and continued to manage the project up until completion. She really took a major challenging and nearly year-long, time-consuming task off my hands. Not being computer-savvy and retired housewife of many years, I am certain she did the task in less than half the time if not more than what it would have taken me to do.
